RoBros is a puzzle-platformer game in which you play as two robots: A smaller, and a larger robot. The small robot can jump higher but can only be away from the large robot as long as the fuel lasts. The large robot can connect the small robot to it to move together, or lay on its side to act as an extra platform for the smaller robot to use.
I worked on the game design documents, designing the concepts for the game as well as how the game would play. I mostly worked out-of-engine for this project, designing systems and communicating effectively to the programmers how the game would work.
The two verbs this game was based on were Rush and Accompany. As such, I came up with the idea for the gas function, where the smaller robot can only stay away from the larger robot for a specific amount of time, thus requiring the player to "rush".
This was one of my first real projects with a team, so I learned that even if you don't work much in-engine, you still have a lot to work on for the project. I learned a lot about game design and how platformers work, as well as how to make them unique in a well-saturated genre.
